From a fairy-tale land of peace and prosperity, a handsome young man named Ilias sets out with his magical bow for distant lands of evil and violence, where a cruel sorceress wearing a golden mask reigns.

1977. A widower and former research fellow arrives in Recife, where the carnival is taking place. He stays at a guesthouse run by a warm-hearted elderly woman and visits his young son, who lives with his grandparents. The man also gets a job at the city’s ID office, where he hopes to find his mother’s documents, and it seems he is hiding from someone.
