Young Lee Fun is a gifted kung fu fighter. After a family tragedy, he is forced to move from Beijing to New York with his mother. It is not easy for him to give up kung fu and his old life. Li meets a girl named Mia at school and then her father Victor, a former boxer. Because of his relationship with the girl, Li becomes the target of her ex-boyfriend Conor, a local bully and karate champion.

This movie is a glimpse into the future and a fond reminiscence of events and life in the heyday of Hollywood. Here, the forties meet the eighties, with a very unusual love story and a lavishly melodic old-fashioned musical with quite modern music.
