David Byrne and Spike Lee with a spirited musical about modernity - a sequel of sorts to the best concert movie ever.

The story of several representatives of bohemia, living next door to each other in one of New York's neighborhoods. The picture describes one year of the difficult life of these people, some of whom are infected with AIDS. Among them is Roger, an aspiring songwriter who is in emotional turmoil after the suicide of his beloved girlfriend. He is still hesitant to have an affair with his neighbor Mimi Marquez, an exotic dance performer struggling with her own problems. In the same apartment with Roger lives filmmaker Mark, who is trying to combine art with commerce. Mark's girlfriend, a circus actress Maureen, who indulges his desires, leaves him for a female lawyer, Joanne. In addition, this close circle of neighbors, friends and acquaintances includes philosophy professor Tom Collins and a street drummer who came to his aid after the robbery. Benny, however, falls out of this circle, having married the landlord's daughter, estranged himself from his friends and failed to keep his promise to provide them with a rent-free space. As a result, he turns from a close friend into a sworn enemy, threatening all the tenants with eviction....

Mad scientist Prospero runs away with his blind daughter Miranda to Tromaville, hiding from evil pharmaceutical execs, including his own sister Antoinette who ruined his career after he found the cure against opioid addiction. With the help of a handicapped crack-whore, he releases a massive amount of laxative to whales, while his enemies are on a cruise ship to North Korea. A humongous shitstorm washes the boat away and brings them to Tromaville, where Prospero can now fully realize his ultimate vengeance.

The doctor introduces them to his newest creation, a muscular young man named Rocky. This house and all its inhabitants exist according to their own laws. Here under energetic music everything that is unacceptable in decent society is possible. And sometimes it seems that all this is happening on some other planet.
