1960s. After a New York nightclub closes for renovations, bouncer Tony, nicknamed Chatterbox, is looking for a part-time job for a couple months. Just then, Don Shirley, a sophisticated socialite, wealthy and talented black classical musician, is about to embark on a tour of the southern states, where racist beliefs and segregation are still strong. He hires Tony as his driver, bodyguard, and someone to handle his current problems. The two have so little in common, and this trip will change the lives of both of them forever.
