Veteran Los Angeles Det. Leo Kessler faces off against a wily serial killer, briefly going down for the count before rising to take vengeance.

A psychopath is kidnapping and murdering young women throughout the Midwest. The FBI, convinced that all the crimes are committed by the same person, assigns Agent Clarissa Starling to meet with imprisoned maniac Hannibal Lecter, who could help build a psychological profile of the killer. Lecter himself is serving time for murder and cannibalism. He agrees to help Clarissa only if she will feed his sick imagination with details of her personal life.
