It is the twentieth year after a nuclear war unleashed by a powerful Afro-Euro-Asian alliance against the United States. The toughest gladiator of modern times, Parsifal, with two assistants is sent to New York to search for her. Their mission is to find the woman and return with her to the base to fly to Alpha Centauri to continue the human race, but is this task feasible?...

Upon returning from space, a rocket launched by a group of scientists led by Professor Bernard Quatermass crashes in the English countryside. Of the rocket's three crew members, two disappear, while the third turns into a hideous mutant who begins to destroy people and animals, feeding their flesh further monstrous transformations of his body. Quatermass decides that there is a hostile alien life form at work here.
