In a small British town, life goes on as usual; people fall in love, get married, and don't pay much attention to what's happening in the world. Meanwhile, in Iran, tensions between the United States and the Soviet Union are escalating.

In a world overrun by horrible monsters that react to any sound, a family with two children lives on a remote farm. In a certain forbidden Zone, rumor has it, there is a room where one’s most cherished wishes come true. A fashionable Writer and an esteemed Professor set out for this room each for their own reasons, which they prefer not to discuss. And leading them there is a Stalker a guide through the Zone who is either a holy fool or an apostle of a new faith.

A flying saucer was discovered near a farm in Tennessee, and shortly thereafter, Professor Donald Kessler noticed numerous spacecraft surrounding Earth in images captured by a telescope. The U.S. President convenes a meeting at the White House to address the first contact with extraterrestrial life. Opinions differ on the aliens’ intentions and how to prepare for an encounter with them: General Decker proposes keeping the discovery classified and advocates preparing for a possible war, General Casey suggests taking no action due to a lack of information, while the press secretary urges the president to announce the existence of aliens to the public and prepare for a peaceful first contact. The alien leader takes over the television broadcast and delivers a speech, but none of the Earthlings can understand him. Professor Kessler studies the aliens’ physiology and tries to grasp the meaning of the speech. Based on the aliens’ appearance and their technology, Donald concludes that those surrounding the planet are representatives of a highly advanced and peaceful civilization that poses no threat to humanity.

After taking on the image of an avatar, soldier Jake Sully becomes the leader of the Na'vi people and takes on a mission to protect his new friends from self-serving businessmen from Earth. Now he has someone to fight for - with Jake is his beautiful lover Neytiri. When the heavily armed Earthlings return to Pandora, Jake is ready to fight back.
