In the movie Rocky V, legendary boxer Rocky Balboa returns home to Philadelphia with damaged health and a broken career after his defeat to Ivan Drago. Forced to end his career due to serious head problems, Rocky finds himself financially ruined and forced to return to a life of modest living. He now trains promising young boxer Tommy Gunn, hoping to help him succeed. However, just as Tommy begins to gain popularity, he betrays his mentor for fame and money, leading to a confrontation between the two. Eventually, when a young, impenetrable, hurricane-like boxer named Klabber enters the ring, Rocky finds himself unable to withstand his crushing blows. The loss of his title has left Balboa mentally drained. The former opponent Apollo Creed helps him to regain faith in himself.
