Battle Royale is a government-sanctioned violent game in which high school students are forced to participate under threat of annihilation. On a deserted island, 42 high school students will mercilessly kill each other for three days using random objects and wits. Only one will return from the island alive.
Summer 1963. 17-year-old Frances, nicknamed Baby, is on vacation with her parents at a resort hotel, where she meets Johnny, a handsome professional dancer. The captain orders her to take a seat in the gunner's cockpit under the belly of the plane, from where the girl spots a Japanese fighter jet and a strange creature on the fuselage. She decides to tolerate sexist comments from the crew for the time being, but she does not intend to let enemy planes and sky goblins rule the sky.
A terrorist places a radio-controlled bomb on a bus that will explode if the bus speed drops below 80 km/h. Once the bus enters the highway and picks up speed, the explosive device is activated and the bus itself turns into a “speed bomb” with hostages unable to stop. A member of the special services, together with a random fellow traveler who happens to be driving the bus, searches for a way to save lives.
