Since childhood, Alfred Yankovic was fond of music and loved to rework the words in songs. But his strict father thought that his son should go to work in a factory, not to do any nonsense, and even smashed an accordion given to Al by his mother. Having entered college, the boy unsuccessfully tries to get a job in some musical group, when on the advice of friends he records a parody of "My Sharona" and sends the tape to the radio. His song becomes a hit.
