A continuation of the largely autobiographical story of teenager Antoine Duanel. He is weighed down by his position in school and in his family, and seeks to escape from the dull and dreary everyday life. After growing up, Duanel falls in love with and marries Christine, becomes the father of a child, then experiments with adultery, having an uninteresting love affair with Kyoko.
