“Blue Soldier 1970” is a dramatic western that explores themes of violence and brutality against the backdrop of the American Indian Wars. In the movie, Candice Bergen plays the role of Krista Lee, a young woman who survives an attack on a caravan and is captured by Indians. She is rescued by U.S. Army soldier Honus Gant (played by Peter Strauss). Together they embark on a perilous journey through the wilderness of the West in an attempt to reach the fort. Along the way, they encounter harsh natural conditions as well as cultural and personal conflicts. The movie is famous for its realistic and frank depiction of violence, especially in the final scene showing the Sand Creek Massacre. “Blue Soldier” challenges the romanticized view of American history by showing the shocking truth about the genocide of Native Americans.
