Gloucester, Massachusetts. A deaf family runs a fishing business. Seventeen-year-old Ruby, the only hearing member of the family, helps her deaf parents and brother fish. At school, she joins the local choir, where she realizes she loves to sing. The choir director convinces her to consider music school, and now the girl is forced to choose between her family and her new dream.
