Seasonal laborers Val McKee and Earl Bassett decide to leave the Nevada town of Perfection, but mysterious tremors prevent their departure. With the help of a seismology student, they discover that the town is infested with giant carnivorous worms that live underground. Now a bunch of brave men have to do battle with the giant creatures, which are not averse to eating people.
