After the death of his father, young Dorji understands what it means to be a Tibetan in his own country, which is now called China. During the Tibetan uprising in 2008, Dorji was caught by the Chinese police and spent 6 months in prison. After his release, he has no choice but to leave his family and go into exile in India on a long, dangerous journey. There he must decide between a new life outside his home country or the ongoing freedom struggle in Tibet. PAWO (Tibetan "Hero") is based on a true story.
